Public Safety DAS Systems

Public Safety DAS Systems

Most multi-floor buildings with concrete structures will require a Public Safety DAS system to ensure first responders can communicate during an emergency in all areas of the building, including stairwells or underground garages. Understanding what kind of Public Safety coverage your building needs to meet local National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) & International Fire Code (IFC) building codes can seem overwhelming as every jurisdiction using UHF, VHF, 700 MHz/800MHz frequencies has slightly different ordinances. Dox can guide you through the process from initial coverage testing, creating a RF design and Build of Materials (BOM), to installing and commissioning DAS antennas that deliver the connectivity a first responder needs in a crisis.

The Solution for New Construction

Not all new buildings require a Public Safety DAS. RF grid testing and Delivered Audio Quality (DAQ) measurement collection can determine if a building already has sufficient coverage to support Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System (ERRCS) requirements. We recommend RF grid testing be performed when the build is at 30% completion. If a DAS system is required due to failing signal coverage, Dox can define various solutions based on your budget and coverage requirements to provide the right public safety system for your building. We will then deliver a design that will include antenna installation locations, conduit layout for fiber and power runs and equipment room identification on every floor to ensure the DAS infrastructure will be installed prior to finishing the building’s construction. All Public Safety DAS designs are created by iBwave certified engineers, all installation performed by Dox will be completed by an OSHA safety certified technician and all RF testing will be reviewed and signed off by an FCC certified engineer.

Compliance Testing For Existing Buildings

Dox performs certified Public Safety 3rd Party Tests to measure and document off‐the‐air signal levels recorded on the property per the requirements of International Fire Code (IFC) 510, National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) and local ordinances. The Data Collection process provides an unbiased and accurate report that may serve as a Public Safety Inspection for System Annual Operational Permit application and renewals. Our customized reports include:

· FCC Inspection Testing Report

· FCC Sign-off sheet

· Public Safety Coverage Test Report
